Best knock but disappointing, not satisfying: Sachin

Hyderabad, November 6:  Describing his epic knock of 175 against Australia as one of his best innings, Sachin Tendulkar said his effort would have been even more satisfying if it could have guided the team to victory in the pulsating fifth ODI.

Tendulkar's 45th ODI century, a rollicking 141-ball knock, almost pulled off a great win for India but the lower-order batsmen could not score the required 19 runs from 17 balls.

"We started off very well, there was a good partnership between Suresh Raina and me at one point of time. But we lost few crucial wickets and also the game itself. So it's disappointing at the end of the day," Tendulkar said after the match which India lost by just three runs in Hyderabad.

On being asked if he would rate this century as one of his best knocks, he said, "Ya, sort of.

Sachins Knock
by R.Kalyanaraman on 2009-11-06 00:00:00
I witnessed this cricket match till end. What a cricket match wha. Sachin is Sachin. Right from the begining he was playing sensible cricket. When 19 runs required in 18 balls Sachin unnecessarily scooped the out side the leg stump ball. Actually he wanted to send the ball to boundry on the backside of wicketkeeper. As for as Indian team concerned it is a one man show yesterday. Sachins efforts all gone waste that is why he was looking sad. Even though Sachin left we could have won. Last minuite panic cost the match very norrowly. Sachin is right in his statement. Sachin was sad & his face showed that. It is quite natural. Unfortunately Ghambir,Yuvaraj & Dhone all scored in single digit. That is irresponsible on their part. As per my view Sehwag used to play natural game. Yesterday he played it suddenly he slowed down his pace that costs his exit. Ponting was looking nervious throughout the match. Only after Sachins exit he was confidence and tightened the grip of the match.. when I saw on TV. Hats off to Sachin. He a great batsman and a sensible bowler. Anyway yesterday witnessed wonderful cricket match. Ultimately cricket won
