Ishqiya: Just don't miss it

New Delhi, January 28: With no glitz and glamour, Master Vishal Bharadwaj comes yet again with ‘Ishqiya’, a compelling story of love, greed, crime and revenge.

Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi) are two big-time thieves who’re on run from their boss Mustaq (Salim Shahid).

The two came looking for safe haven at their old friend’s place. But call it fortunate or unfortunate; they instead meet his widow Krishna (Vidya Balan).

The sensual, seductress and mysterious Krishna wins over the hearts of Khalujan and Babban with the two ending up falling in love with her.

With abusive lines, crime and rustic setting, ‘Ishqiya’ by debutante director Abhishek Chaubey gives you that look of ‘Omkara’ and ‘Kaminey’, but it’s a complete different film.

It’s a very impressive offering from Abhishek, who under Vishal has tried to harbor his style of filmmaking. Bollywood needs more like him.

Screenplay by Vishal Bhardwaj, Sabrina Dhawan and Abhishek Chaubey keeps you engaging.

And once again, Vishal Bhardwaj has scored a wonderful music. 'Ibne Batuta' is on everyone’s lips. Cinematography by Mohana Krishna is fine.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s dialogues are very sharp, straight-forward and of course very staggering.

Veteran Naseeruddin exudes raw energy playing the role of Khalujan, who believes in old-fashioned love. Arshad Warsi will now be able to come out of his ‘Munnabhai’s’ circuit image. He has played his part so brilliantly.

But, the sure winner remains Vidya Balan, who surprises you again. After ‘Paa’, cinegoers will once again get the opportunity of seeing Vidya Balan in an impeccable performance.
