Lahore, October 30:  US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is on a three day tour of Pakistan, has reiterated that Al-Qaeda leadership is present in that country, and said that it is hard to believe that a civilian government has no idea about its whereabouts.

“I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn’t get them if they really wanted to,” The Daily Times quoted Clinton, as saying.

“Maybe that’s the case; maybe they’re not gettable. I don’t know... As far as we know, they are in Pakistan,” Clinton told mediapersons here.

She said Pakistan is facing numerous problems and with such a large population to feed the issue has only aggravated.

Clinton stressed that Islamabad must tackle problems related to its ever increasing population.

“You do have 180 million people. Your population is projected to be about 300 million. And, I don’t know what you’re going to do with that kind of challenge, unless you start planning right now,” Clinton said.

Clinton also met Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and exchanged views on a host of security-related issues.

Issues pertaining to Pak-US strategic relations, including their cooperation in the ‘war on terror’, and the ongoing military offensive against the Taliban in South Waziristan were also discussed in the meeting, the sources said.

US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke, US Ambassador in Pakistan, Anne W. Peterson and Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha also attended the meeting.

Matters relating to the Kerry-Lugar Bill and secret information sharing were discussed, the sources added.

Population control is the key for both countries
by Uday Kumar on 2009-10-31 00:00:00
Do not talk like stupids, population is bad for both India and Pakistan in the same way as the destabilized Pakistan is bad for India too. If some boat full of hungry children, women or men come from Pakistan or India then I am sure we will help each other, because 1) we are not like Europeans or Australia 2) Babar did not bring Muslims with him actually as everybody know the Muslims are just convertees from Hindu. I think this fact has to realize by Pakistanis more than Indians. So, the punch line is controlling population is the urgent demand of the present time.

Hillary Clinton's puzzle
by Dr. R. L. Banerjee on 2009-10-31 00:00:00
The nexus between Pak army and the terrorists are all too obvious to be unknown to western leaders. Yet nobody should expect to find any solution to this problem coming from the west. The western powers don't want to eliminate it; they just want to redirect it towards India and Russia. But that is never possible. It is a well-known fact the snake charmers often die of snake bites themselves.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Deal
by G on 2009-10-31 00:00:00
Pakistan's ISI and military agencies are using CIA intelligence technics to hide Oslama Bin Laden and his associates, so Pakistan can use them whenever needed to help terrorists in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Kashmir.Pakistan had made a deal with Saudi Arabia that Pakistan won't give Oslama Bin Laden and his associates to Western Countries. Mussraf (dictator) knows everything about Oslma Bin Landen and his associates. Mussraf is spreading ISI network in Europe.

US
by Sanjana on 2009-10-30 00:00:00
Joke of the Day!! US realised this only after 9/11/2001 after they had the direct hit courtesy their own grooming of Bin Laden their CIA operative and their favouritism towards Pakistan and funding it and thus funding Talibans. Indians and Isralis have for ever been bearing the burnt of this terrorism. It took over half a century for US to realise that they too could be targets to Terrorism and almost a decade (end 2001 to end 2009) to openly declare it....what would one term this? Did not US very recently again fund Paistan to indirectly fund Talibans? To me it just looks like US is using a Woman to make a few statements and get away in the name of Woman to cover up, exactly in the ame fashion as the lady Ambassador of US who gave a go ahead to Saddam to attack Kuwait!!
