While analysts and experts are busy analysing Clinton’s unprecedented statements, which surely have upset a faction of the Pakistani political circle, an editorial in one of the leading English dailies of the country seconded the top US Diplomat’s view.
An editorial in The News said it was obvious that having a less hostile relationship with India would benefit the people on both sides of the border and help allay the otherwise heightened tension.
“Overcoming the militant threat and entering in to a less acrimonious relationship with India would benefit most citizens. There are segments that would stand to lose, but ways must be found to prevent them from subverting the interests of the majority. They have done so repeatedly through the decades since 1947,” the editorial said.
It highlighted that the Obama Administration has also realised the fact that a cordial relationship between India and Pakistan is the ultimate solution to some of the problems in the region.
“The Bush administration's virtually blind backing for former president Musharraf created a number of the problems we face today. Our political leaders must assess the way we can most effectively counter these,” it said.
“If we are honest, we cannot deny that much of what she (Clinton) said was true. For reasons buried in ideology, many of us, whether we draw influence from the right or the left of the political spectrum, have difficulty in suggesting that an alliance with the US could benefit Pakistan,” the editorial went on to add.
The editorial concluded that Islamabad must utilise the opportunity, arising after Clinton’s visit, to lay out a more open relationship both with the US and India in order to pull the state of the vicious circle that it has entered into.
“The opportunities for a more open relation laid out by the secretary of state need to be seized and utilized to pull our country out of the pit into which it has stumbled as a result of errors made in the past,” it said.

High time the world stops messing in Pakisthan..leave them to their misery..just shut them off...they will self destruct and there will be peace..every time the western interest are hit by Pakistan the West doles out billions and prop up their economy and Defense..thereby creating massive arms race in this sub-continent..all the Western arms and Tech goes to China via Pakistan..so the Chinese keep once again bulling the world and in particular its neighbors..unless the Americans abandon their policies of supporting repressive regimes and undemocratic nonsecular regimes the world will never be at peace..The Americans can ignore India at its own peril..the success of India will usher more democratic reforms and help build secular democratic nations in this otherwise sub-continent..americans are hated in this sub-continent for supporting all repressive undemocratic ruthless leaders..time Americans rectify their general behavior..Hillary spoke the truth..wake up..

it is not india which requires any sort of diplomatic ties with the pakis.it isfor the pakis to decide if they want to do business with india or remain acrimonious and go in the self destruct path.india does not need pakistan .pakistan is only a nuisance value and not much use for india.

Pakistan, China or for that matter any country of the world should have fear of indian invasion. India has never invaded any country in the history and will not do it in future. Only our neigbours have keep peace and have faith in co-existance and good neigbourly attitude. India have won the admiration of the world through its moral values. If our neigbours improve so do we benefit from it. There is no need for arm-race because we have lot to do for our population as do our neigbours. The disease, disaster, natural and made-made calamities and social injustices to rectify and improve the living standard of millions our citizens. It is the public opinion which can modify the politicians thinking and their action. So let's build the international bank of public good will for all humanity.
