Jaiprakash Bhaskar, a second-year student of MBBS at RNT medical college stabbed his class fellow Kamla Kumari yesterday after allegedly being spurned by her, classmates of the two claimed.

"Bhaskar called Kamla out from a college class. He then whipped out a knife and stabbed her in the throat," police and college officials alleged.

Thereafter, Bhaskar committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the boys hostel, they added.

Both of them were rushed to a hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries, they said.

"The college administration has filed an FIR," Principal S K Kaushik said, adding the reason behind the incident is being ascertained.
